Who We Are

AuthentiSci Limited is the data controller for the personal information collected through our website and browser extension. We are registered in the United Kingdom at Melrose House Pynes Hill, Rydon Lane, Exeter, Devon, England, EX2 5AZ. If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us at hello@authentisci.com.

What information do we collect and why?

What information we collect depends on how you use the AuthentiSci platform, whether you are browsing anonymously, submitting review requests, or contributing as a validated researcher.

For users browsing and checking scores of existing articles, we do not collect any personal information. However, if you request a score for an article not yet reviewed, that request is recorded anonymously to help us prioritise future coverage.

For researchers logging in via ORCID to submit reviews, we collect and store:

  • your ORCID identifier
  • your email address
  • your selected areas of expertise
  • your temporary access token (to enable seamless interaction across the website and extension)
  • any scores and comments you submit We also access publicly available details from your ORCID profile to ensure you meet the eligibility criteria for contributing scores on our platform.

This information is used to verify your identity and qualifications, allow public association with the content you contribute, and maintain the integrity and quality of the platform.

Our team has access to your data in order to ensure the smooth operation of the platform and to respond to user requests or concerns.

How we store your data

All communication between your browser and our website or extension is encrypted using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to protect your data in transit.

We are based in the United Kingdom and store all data securely within the London datacentre of Amazon Web Services (AWS), which complies with applicable data protection standards.

We retain your ORCID identifier, associated metadata, and any submitted scores and comments for as long as the platform continues to serve its purpose. You may request the deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at hello@authentisci.com.

Sharing your information

We do not share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

However, your submitted scores and comments, once published, are shared publicly as part of our mission to promote transparency in science communication. These are displayed alongside your name and ORCID ID unless you request removal.

We may also share personal data when required by law or when necessary to protect the legal rights of the company or the public.
